On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 about 40 representatives from Salem’s cultural and heritage organizations gathered at the Willamette Heritage Center to hear from Carolyn Brackett with the National Trust for Historic Preservation about how to build a successful cultural heritage tourism program. The daylong workshop was opened by Salem’s Mayor Peterson, and included presentations by the National Trust and Travel Salem. The workshop concluded with group discussions around themes which will be included within a new strategic plan for heritage tourism for the City.
